Submitted by Haroon Abdallah: "I imaged these two disks many years after digging them out of a pile. It is from a now-defunct organization called the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America. It was a free program basically intended to teach people about Islam, and probably the first time that an app was made specifically for that purpose in English. It’s not something you will come across every day."

Excerpt from "A Short Guide To Shadow Keep v1.1" by Bob Nordling: "Only the elder knights of Shadow Keep remember the Great Battle with the Evil Overlord, a battle in which The Black Sword, his powerful magical weapon, was lost by him in the heat of battle and his forces routed. Not Even in the dark corners of taverns do they whisper his name, especially not in the darkness... But through childhood tales, all in the kingdom have heard of that evil knight/magician, and his uncanny...

You are Cap'n Lance Magneto, of the Intergalactic Rangers. You have been assigned to investigate the disappearance of several commercial trading ships in the vicinity of Rigel IV. These disappearances are of more than ordinary concern. The "Crown of Control", an archeological relic of an advanced ancient race, has recently disappeared and has been traced to the Menturg, an intergalactic criminal who makes his headquarters on a small planet orbiting this sun. It is believed that the...

This emulated Macintosh item contains two disk images; one boot disk with System 7.0.1 installed, and one 110MB disk with the first 35 MacFormat magazine cover floppies. Much of the content of the floppies, particularly on the later ones, may not work with the emulated Mac Plus, requiring colour, higher processor than the first generation Macs, more RAM, etc. Don't fret over this; embrace it! It's the exact experience of helpless obsolescence millions of computer users would have experienced...

Requested/submitted by John Peterson, as follows: "This is Iago, and what makes it interesting is it's one of the very first pieces of game shareware distributed independently of normal (professional) developer channels. It was obviously done as a labor of love, as there's very little attribution within the app itself. I distinctly remember playing it in 1984, just weeks after the very first 128K Macs came off the truck. It also followed all the rules as apps go, and kept running until...

This emulated item contains the game Bolo and around 4000 custom maps. :) From MacintoshGarden.org: Bolo is a 16 player graphical networked real-time multi-player tank battle game. It has elements of arcade-style shoot-em-up action, but for the serious players who play 12 hour games with 16 players working in teams in different networked computer clusters around an office or university campus, it becomes more of a strategy game. You have to play it to understand. — Stuart Cheshire Bolo...

From http://iangilman.com/software/heavenearth.php: Flushed with our success from Ishido , we decided to do it again, but bigger this time! The game would be the first in a trilogy, filled with new mind games of all sorts and wisdom from throughout the ages. More people joined the team, including Scott Kim , puzzlemaster, and Mark Ferrari , artist extraordinaire. It was an amazingly wonderful, creative experience, and I believe it shows through in the game. Original Version On the Web: You can...

From http://www.iangilman.com/software/ishido.php: Ishido was my first commercial software project, a contemplative solitaire game played with tiles. Michael Feinberg designed it and Brad Fregger , the producer, was nice enough to take a chance on me, an untried 17 year-old, to program it. I ended up contributing much more than just programming to the game, and I'm still quite proud of it. Near the end of development, the publisher (Epyx) suddenly went bankrupt. Undaunted, we took the game and...

PGP 3 RELEASED In yet another sign of the impending apocalypse, Lamprey Systems today announced the release of PGP 3 (Pretty Good Pornography 3.0 ). The program, a major upgrade of Lamprey Systems' Porno Writer 2.0, randomly produces Penthouse Forum-type letters ranging in content from the merely obscene to the patently absurd....
